Provided is a dehydrogenation method for steel materials and steel products that are very thick or have a complicated shape, said method causing the amount of hydrogen in steel to be efficiently reduced. A steel material dehydrogenation method wherein, in a chain of tasks in a steel material manufacturing process, which includes a step for supplying a steel raw material, a step for hot working the steel raw material, a step for inspecting a steel material obtained from the steel raw material, and a step for shipping the steel material, an acoustic radiation process is performed at least once, on at least one of the steel raw material and the steel material at any of the steps from the supplying step to the shipping step, such that the acoustic pressure level of a front surface of the steel raw material or the steel material is at least 30 dB.
