Single-sided high-speed MRI gradient field coils and their applications

A single-sided gradient coil set for a single-sided magnetic resonance imaging system is disclosed. The coil set is configured to generate a magnetic field away from and outwardly from the coil set. The coil set includes one or more first helical coils in a first position relative to the aperture and one or more second helical coils in a second position relative to the aperture. The coil set is configured to cause a current to flow through the at least one first helical coil and the at least one second helical coil to generate an electromagnetic field gradient configured to be projected away from the coil set and into an imaging area of the magnetic imaging system.
