The present application relates to a method for the solvent-free preparation of polymers and their subsequent treatment with activated carbon materials. These methods are unexpectedly demonstrating that while having the ability to tune the pore structure in polymer gels and carbon produced therefrom, they also provide special advantages over current technologies.
