Wideband Low Noise Amplifier with Noise Rejection

The low noise amplifier has integral noise cancellation to provide low noise figure and operation over the frequency range of 0.5GHz-50GHz. The amplifier amplifies the noise present in the amplified signal as well as the input signal, and the amplified noise is out of phase or in phase with the corresponding input, respectively. A feedback circuit that is non-linear in frequency allows for constant amplification. The summing circuit combines the amplified signal with the noise being removed because the summed two combined noise signals are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. An optional secondary amplification step provides additional amplification. Preferably, the amplifier, auxiliary amplifier and summing device utilize CMOS transistors disposed on an SOI substrate with impedance stabilization over a range of frequencies.
