A device recovery operation assist device (30) is equipped with a recovery operation information storage unit (31), a recovery assist information generation unit (332) and a recovery assist information update unit (335). The recovery operation information storage unit (31) stores the recovery operation items which are set for each area of the device to be managed where an abnormality is hypothesized to occur, and also stores priority information which expresses the execution priority for each operation item. Upon detecting that an abnormality has occurred inside the device and the device has stopped, the recovery assist information generation unit (332) generates recovery assist information, in which the operation items for recovering said device on the basis of the information about the area where said abnormality occurred are arranged in execution order on the basis of the priority information. The recovery assist information update unit (335) updates the recovery assist information on the basis of information about an area which has changed, upon detecting that the state of any of the areas inside the device has changed, before completing the recovery operation based on the recovery assist information.
