High-density production of biomass and oil using crude glycerin

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for culturing one or more kinds of microorganisms which can be used for an efficient process of converting crude glycerin into a product having higher added value. SOLUTION: (a) Culturing one or more kinds of microorganisms in a medium containing a nitrogen source and a first concentration level of crude glycerin. (B) When the first concentration of glycerin drops to the first threshold level, an additional amount of crude glycerin is supplied to the medium at a concentration sufficient to reach the first concentration level, and is being supplied. Do not add a nitrogen source to the medium and (C) Monitoring the crude glycerin concentration until the first concentration level of the crude glycerin drops to the first threshold level. (D) A method for culturing one or more microorganisms, which comprises repeating steps (b) and (c) until a desired microbial cell density is reached. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
