A mixed scheduling system and method for a virtual machine and a container, and a scheduler and an apparatus, which are used for providing a scheduling mode in which a virtual machine and a container are co-deployed. In the present application, the scheduling system comprises a scheduler and a resource pool, wherein the resource pool comprises one or more physical machines; the scheduler may receive a resource request; and after receiving the resource request, if the scheduler confirms that the resource request requires a virtual machine resource, the scheduler selects, from the resource pool, a physical machine which is used for deploying a virtual machine, so as to deploy the virtual machine, and if the scheduler confirms that the resource request requires a container resource, the scheduler selects, from the resource pool, a physical machine which is used for deploying a container, so as to deploy the container. Therefore, a scheduler uniformly schedules a virtual machine and a container; the virtual machine and the container may be deployed in the same resource pool; the possibility for co-deployment of the virtual machine and the container is provided; and the scheduling efficiency of the virtual machine and the container is improved.
