A system and method for detecting birdlife in wind farms, areas with a plurality of wind turbine generators managed by a control centre of the wind farm; a system comprising at least one stereoscopic item of equipment, equipment comprising a 3D camera vertically located on a supporting mast located in the area where the wind turbine generators are to be found; at least one high-resolution item of equipment comprising a high-resolution 2D camera which is also located on the supporting mast; a number of modules for the detection of meteorological variables and variables of the status of the wind turbine generators of the wind farm; an electronic module for recording said detections; and electronic artificial intelligence equipment that receives the data from the aforementioned equipment and modules, and comprising a computer with computerised tools for the making of the decision to activate the halting of the wind turbine generators or to activate dissuasive systems.
