To provide a method for safely and reliably loading a metal band coil to a pay-off reel mandrel of continuous processing equipment.SOLUTION: A method for loading a metal band coil to an inlet side pay-off reel of continuous processing equipment comprises: a step 1 at which an outer diameter of a mandrel (sleeve) is detected; a step 2 at which the outer diameter detected at the step 1 is compared with a coil inner diameter; a step 3 at which the sleeve is replaced or sleeve attachment/detachment is performed; a step 4 at which the mandrel and coil inner diameter are aligned; and a step 5 at which the coil after alignment at the step 4 is loaded to the mandrel. When the results compared at the step 2 do not match, the step 3, steps 1 and 2 are repeatedly performed in the above-said order until the inner diameter of the coil matches the outer diameter of the mandrel (sleeve), and when the results compared at the step 2 match, transition from the step 3 to the step 4 is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
