The present disclosure provides an adjuvant system comprising (a) a poly I: C polynucleotide adjuvant; (b) a lipid-based adjuvant; (c) an amphiphilic compound; and (d) a hydrophobic carrier. Also provided is a vaccine composition that is free or substantially free of water and comprises the same components described above together with one or more antigens. The present disclosure relates to the use of such compositions in eliciting antibody (humoral) and / or cell-mediated immune responses, and in the treatment of diseases, disorders or mild diseases that are alleviated by antibodies and / or cell-mediated immune responses.
