The invention concerns a method of environmental assessment with at least two independent imaging environmental sensors (182, 186),where the images of the environment sensors (182, 186) are evaluated with respective object recognition algorithms. For dynamic object detection, multiple consecutive object detection is performed for the respective environmental sensor (182, 186) and object detection with position indication is entered in an object list (184-3; 184-4) for the respective environmental sensor (182, 186). Subsequently, the accuracy of the object locations is enhanced by a sensor data fusion of the object identifiers related to each other. This is done dynamically only in one reliability range (RCDR),which is determined by correlation of object recognition in object lists (184-3; 184-4). The execution of the sensor data fusion with the corresponding object recognition is limited to the reliability range (RCDR) and outside the reliability range (RCDR) the object location is based on the object recognition of the other environmental sensor (186), for which the defined range of reliability (NRDR) does not apply.
