An apparatus and method for monitoring an electroencephalogram utilizing an electrode or other sensor disposed close to a portion of the body below the head without physically touching the body.Signals from the electrodes or sensors 26, 28 are applied to filters 60, 62 to generate an analysis signal that includes a frequency component associated with the electrical activity of the brain, and the unrelated frequency components attenuate.The apparatus and method can be used for biofeedback based attention training, training of human ability, gaming, biometrics, cognitive state detection, and relaxation training.In order to perform signal processing work and analysis functions, either a wired or wireless signal connection to an electronic circuit including a digital computer is typically performed.Diagram
