The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating, treating, or preventing muscular diseases, or improving muscular functions, containing, as an active ingredient, a Korean mint extract or tilianin. Korean mint or tilianin according to the present invention has effects of increasing the activity of mTOR, which is involved in muscle protein synthesis and reducing mRNA expression of MuRF-1 and atrogin-1 which are involved in muscle protein degradation, and increases muscle mass and improves muscle functions, and thus can be effectively used in preventing, treating or alleviating various muscular diseases, such as sarcopenia, muscular atrophy, muscular dystrophy, atony, muscle degeneration, myasthenia and cachexia.
