FIELD: ceramics production.;SUBSTANCE: proposed method relates to the production of halogenide optical materials having effective multifunctional properties, specifically to the production of crystalline ceramics that is highly transparent in the range from 1.0 to 67.0 mcm based on two phases of solid solutions of AgBr-TlI system. The method for the production of highly transparent crystalline ceramics based on two solid solutions of AgBr-TlI system is characterized in that salts of AgBr and TlI of 99.9999 wt. % purity are loaded in ampoules made of “Pyrex” glass with a conical bottom, melted in vacuum at a temperature of 470-480°C, held for 4-5 hours in an installation implementing a vertical method for directed crystallization, after which the ampoule is transferred with a speed of 3-4 mm per hour to a lower installation zone having a temperature of 250-260°C to form, due to the geometric selection, two solid solutions of cubic and rhombic phases, while the crystalline rhombic phase has Tl2AgBr2I composition, and the cubic crystalline phase based on silver bromide and monovalent thallium iodide contains AgBr and TlI at the following ratio of ingredients, wt.%: silver bromide 65.0-99.0; monovalent thallium iodide 35.0-1.0. The method for the production of two solid solutions of cubic and rhombic phases, where the crystalline rhombic phase has AgTl2BrI2 composition, and the cubic crystalline phase based on silver bromide and monovalent thallium iodide contains AgBr and TlI at the following ratio of ingredients, wt.%: silver bromide 5.0-24.0; monovalent thallium iodide 95.0-76.0, contains the same operations.
