Provided are a method for issuing a route in a campus network, and a network device, which relate to the technical field of communications. The method comprises: a network device issuing aggregation routes to neighbor devices at a previous level which are connected to the network device, and issuing default routes to neighbor devices at a next level which are connected to the network device, wherein the levels indicate the positions, in a network topology, of devices in a campus network; the aggregation route is the aggregation of detailed routes received by the network device from the neighbor devices at the next level which are connected to the network device, and the default routes instruct the neighbor devices at the next level to forward messages to designated addresses corresponding to the default routes when routes corresponding to destination addresses are not successfully acquired. On the basis of a level at which a network device is located in a campus network, the network device issues aggregation routes to neighbor devices at a previous level of the network device, and issues default routes to neighbor devices at a next level of the network device, such that the network device issues different routes to neighbor devices at different levels, thereby reducing the number of issued routes of the network device in the campus network.
