Procedure comprising:Write an amended set of data for a time copy source (50) into a cache (28), changing the changed set of data with respect to an unchanged set of data in the time copy source (50);Determine whether pre-emptive copy-source-to-target operations (410) conditions exist for data related to the changed data in the cache (28); andin response to a finding that conditions exist for pre-emptive copy-source-to-target operations, pre-emptive and selective initiation of a copy-source-to-target operation, including:Read (484) the time copy source (50) to obtain read data containing the unchanged set of data; andWrite (488) the unchanged set of data to a time copy target (54); andStart a cache search (28) to identify traces of changed data in the cache to be stored in memory.
