To improve signal-to-noise ratio of cameras in applications of lowlight imaging, such as fluorescence and surgical microscopy.SOLUTION: In a microscope system 200, a signal-to-noise ratio adjustment circuit 210 is configured to determine whether a signal-to-noise ratio of a first image is below a first threshold, and to determine whether a variation of imaged content between the first image and a preceding second image of a video sequence is below a second threshold.
