To provide an acicular anhydrous magnesium carbonate excellent in reinforcement and in water resistance, and a production method thereof, and also provide a resin composition.SOLUTION: The present invention in one embodiment concerns an acicular anhydrous magnesium carbonate having a ratio of an average longer diameter to an average shorter diameter that is 5 or greater. The average longer diameter is preferably 10 μm or greater. The cumulative 50% diameter (d) on a volume basis of the acicular anhydrous magnesium carbonate in a particle size distribution obtained with a laser diffraction particle size analyzer is preferably 5 μm or greater and 200 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
