The invention relates to a device for non-invasive measurement of the aortic flow at the sub-diaphragmatic level in a small laboratory mammal, characterized in that it comprises: - a device for plethysmography of the thorax by inductance measurement comprising two extensible coils (2, 3) electrically conductive integral with an elastic garment (1) adjustable to the trunk of said mammal (A), - a device (4) for acquiring the cross-sectional variation signal of each turn, - a processor (6) configured to calculate the instantaneous subdiaphragmatic aortic flow of said mammal, from said signals of variation of section of each coil and from a functional model of the cardio-respiratory system according to which the exchanges of blood between the thorax and the rest of the body of said mammal consist of an outflow of blood through the abdominal aorta at the sub-diaphragmatic level and an inflow of blood through the inferior vena cava.
