According to an aspect of the invention, it is provided a rectifier (101) for piezoelectric energy harvesting, comprising: - an active diode (AD); - a first switch (SW0); - a second switch (SW1) connected to the first switch (SW0) and: o to the active diode (AD) in a charging position; o to the ground in a discharging position; - a third switch (SW2) connected to the first switch (SW0) and: o to the active diode (AD) in a charging position; o to the ground in a discharging position; - a regulator circuit (REG) connected to the active diode (AD); - either a fourth switch (SW3) connected in parallel with the active diode (AD) and the regulator circuit (REG); - or: o a recycling switch connected to the active diode (AD); o a recycling capacity connected to the recycling switch and to the ground; and o a fourth switch (SW3) connected to the third switch (SW2) and to the recycling capacity; - a control circuit configured to control the position of the switches (SW0, SW1, SW2, SW3).
