A system for scaling an output of a modulator of a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC), comprising: a decimation filter, the decimation length of which is adjustable by a decimation length value received as an input through the decimation filter, the decimation length value being proportional to a quotient of a length of an output range of the sigma-delta ADC and a length of a predetermined result range to which the output range of the sigma-delta ADC is scaled, and wherein the decimation filter is configured to output the modulator of the sigma-delta ADC Delta ADC and decimate the received output of the modulator of the sigma-delta ADC using the decimation length value.
