Prestress cable inspection method for old bridge cables

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prestress cable inspection method for an old bridge cable capable of performing a safe tensile strength lift-off inspection for the prestress and the cord material in the cable embedded in the old bridge. SOLUTION: Using an inspection mechanism including a jack, an electric hydraulic pump, and an extension amount measuring device, a prestressed cable wire inside an old bridge cable is lifted off from a tension end, and the prestressed cable wire is stepwise within the yield point range of the prestress cable wire. By increasing the tensile force, the old bridge cable is inspected one by one, and the soundness of the bridge cable is surely grasped to ensure the safety in use of the old bridge cable.
