The present invention is a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating vascular or valvular calcification containing a thiamine derivative and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and for improving vascular or valvular calcification containing a thiamine derivative and a salt thereof. With respect to food compositions, the compositions of the present invention can be usefully used for the prevention, treatment or amelioration of vascular or valvular calcification.
