An improved wireless device 102 includes an antenna set 205 , analog circuitry 1220 , digital circuitry 1216 , a medium access control (MAC) controller 918 , and the antenna set, the analog circuitry, the digital circuitry , and a processor 225 operatively coupled to the MAC controller. The processor decomposes wideband waveform signals into a time-frequency waveform based on a sequence of sub-band signals, generates a time-frequency radar waveform based on the decomposed wideband waveform signals, and the time- map a constant amplitude zero auto-correlation (CAZAC) sequence to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) sub-carriers to generate a first radar signal based on the frequency radar waveform. The transceiver 210 is operatively coupled to the processor and transmits, via a transmit antenna of the set of antennas, the first radar signal to a target object, and via a receive antenna of the set of antennas, and receive a second signal reflected or backscattered from the target object.
