Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for improving service recovery after call termination in a dual subscriber identity module (SIM) device. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes performing a first registration procedure to establish a first service associated with a first radio access technology, performing a second registration procedure to establish a second service associated with a second radio access technology, initiating a voice call using the second radio access technology, wherein initiating the voice call includes dropping the first service associated with the first radio access technology, detecting a termination of the voice call, and performing, after detecting the termination of the voice call, a cell search procedure for cells corresponding to at least the first radio access technology to reestablish the first service.
