The invention relates to a method and associated test apparatus (2) for testing an optical system (34) in respect of at least one optical property. In said method, a point light bundle (30) is generated by means of a light source (4) and is directed onto the optical system (34) to be tested. An optical phase meter (16) is used to detect the spatial phase progression of the point light bundle (30) transmitted through the optical system (34) or reflected by the optical system (34) to be tested. A screen (26, 36) is used as the light source (4), on the display surface (28) of which a point light (32) is displayed to generate the point light bundle (30). As an alternative to this, a digital projector is used as the light source to display the point light (32).
