An apparatus and method are described for providing additional drive to a multi-level signal representing data. An exemplary device includes a first actuator compartment, a second actuator compartment and a third actuator compartment. The first driver compartment is configured to drive the output terminal towards a first selected one of a first voltage and a second voltage. The second driver compartment is configured to drive the output terminal towards a second selected one of the first voltage and the second voltage. The third driver section is configured to drive the output terminal towards the first voltage when each of the first selected voltage and the second selected voltage is the first voltage. The third driver compartment is also configured to be in a high impedance state when the first selected voltage and the second selected voltage are different from each other.
