A system and method for efficient management and modification of images comprises: receiving a first set of images from a second system coupled to at least one processor via a network interface; receive an image sequence comprising references to images in a first image set and an order of appearance; store the first image set and image sequence in a database; identify a second subset of the first set of images that are unacceptable; send a signal to the second system to request a new image; receive a second set of images from a second system; replacing a second subset of the first set of images with a second set of images; and updating references to a second subset of the first set of images in the sequence of images to the second set of images.
