A method for reducing the formation of deposits on the plates of the distillation column during the fractionation of coal tar includes feeding a wide distillate into the column at a temperature of 350-390°С, feeding a light oil to the upper plate of the column as a phlegm, and then, depending on the boiling points of the liquid phase on the plates at the height of the distillation column, selecting phenolic, naphthalene, absorption and anthracene fractions, while the phlegm, which is a light oil, using a heat exchanger mounted on phlegm supply lines from the collector to the column, heated to a temperature of 85-90°С and a volume flow rate of up to 18 m3/h, a pump feeds it to the upper plate of the column, on which, as well as on the plates located below, the temperature of the liquid phase is maintained above the boiling point of the most highly boiling water-containing azeotropic mixtures in the vapor phase, this eliminates water condensation and, as a result, eliminates the ionic initiation of the processes of tarring, polymerization and polycondensation, leading to the formation of deposits.
