A fault detection and system protection method of a stand-alone microgrid on the basis of a power conversion system (PCS) serving as a main power source in the microgrid, according to the present invention, allows the PCS to be controlled to a value lower than the nominal voltage of a power system when an overcurrent of a predetermined amount or greater is generated, and allows a protection relay to identify the fault location through a reverse-phase component of a fault feeder flowing by means of a low voltage, thereby protecting the power system.
