A mini load crane for use in an automated warehouse and a method for storing and picking goods, the mini load crane having a plurality of rows, wherein the rows extend vertically in a plurality of levels, and are arranged in parallel in a horizontal direction to form a rack, said mini load crane comprising a first vertical side section and a second vertical side section spaced apart from and arranged in parallel with said first side section; a multilayer intermediate storage device arranged in a vertical space between said side sections, wherein each level of said multilayer intermediate storage device is provided with a goods support device; a goods elevator extending along and outside said vertical space, wherein the goods elevator is arranged to be moved vertically and stopped at different levels in line with the levels of the rack for picking up and storing goods in the rack, and at different levels in line with the levels of said multilayer intermediate storage device for picking up and storing goods in the intermediate storage device; and at least one motor for moving the mini load crane along the rack and perpendicularly to the rows.
