The present disclosure relates generally to bacterial delivery vehicles for use in the efficient delivery of a desired payload to target bacterial cells. More particularly, the present disclosure discloses the presence of a chimeric receptor binding protein (RBP) consisting of a fusion between the N-terminal region of an RBP derived from a lambda-like bacteriophage and the C-terminal region of a different RBP, and/or engineered branched receptor binding Bacterial delivery vehicles having a preferred host range based on the presence of a multi-subunit polypeptide (“branched-RBP”).
