The present invention provides combinations comprising antagonists of the leptin receptor, GDF8, and activin A, and methods of use thereof. Such compositions are effective, for example, to increase lean mass at least in part at the expense of body fat mass. Methods are also provided for treating malnutrition, cachexia, and other conditions characterized by malnutrition and weight loss.
