In the method of operating a terminal providing a user interface according to an embodiment of the present invention, the user's input freedom is restricted based on the user's touch interaction information corresponding to the user interface and interface state information mapped to the touch interaction information obtaining information; determining variable setting information including touch area extension information for compensating for the user's soft button selection input failure determined from the touch interaction information and the interface state information based on the input freedom constraint information; and outputting a variable interface to which the variable setting information is applied to the user interface.
