An embodiment of simply sampling a GPS location with low power is provided. A server may be configured to assist the mobile device in determining a location from a plurality of small GPS signal chunks and corresponding time stamps. For example, the server may identify a set of satellites from each chunk of GPS signal, and may determine a second set of satellites by comparing the set of satellites to each other for each chunk of GPS signal. The server may then estimate the location of the mobile based on the second set of satellites.
