A helmet comprises a helmet shell (1) and a fixing system (2) for fixing the helmet shell (1) to the head of a helmet wearer. The fixation system (2) has a head contact arrangement connected to the helmet shell (1) for at least regional arrangement on the head of the helmet wearer and an adjustment device with a manually adjustable actuating element (12) for adjusting the size of the head contact arrangement an accident detection device (24) for detecting an accident. The accident detection device (24) is at least partially integrated into the actuating element (12).
