Disclosed is a method for diagnosing residual life of a secondary battery module, the method comprising the steps of: acquiring charging information including current, voltage, and a charged state of a secondary battery module; obtaining the present capacity and internal resistance of the secondary battery module from the charging information, calculating a deterioration level of the secondary battery module through comparing the capacity and the internal resistance against their initial values, and specifying the deterioration value as an actual measurement value; acquiring output information of the secondary battery module; calculating a predicted value of the deterioration level by a prediction formula, using the output information; comparing the actual measurement value and the predicted value; and calculating residual life, if a difference between the actual measurement value and the predicted value is equal to or less than a predetermined value. If the difference between the actual measurement value and the predicted value is more than the predetermined value, the method is to correct the prediction formula based on the actual measurement value and calculate the predicted value by the corrected prediction formula. This method enables it to determine a deterioration level of a secondary battery module for a short time and accurately and estimate the battery residual life depending on usage history.
