In the case of a process to produce a defective sample part (22) by laser beam melting, an analytical part by laser beam melting is produced in a first construction process by successively producing a multitude of raw material powder layers on a construction platform (10)be applied and irradiated selectively with laser radiation depending on the desired geometry of the analytical component.During the production of the analytical component, a process monitoring system shall capture at least one process parameter,which is characteristic for the occurrence of component defects.The result of the process parameter capture identifies a defect-prone area (20) of the construction platform (10) where an accumulation of component defects is expected.In a second construction process at least one defective sample part (22) is produced by laser melting,by successively applying a majority of raw material powder layers to the construction platform (10) and irradiating at least one defective sample component (22) selectively with laser radiation in the defective range (20) of the construction platform (10) depending on the desired geometry of at least one defective sample component.
