To provide a method for reducing luminance fluctuation in a video stream describing a scene.SOLUTION: The method uses first sensor setting to acquire S202 a first frame and detects S204 fluctuation of a luminance value in a first area of the first frame. Next, the method determines S206 second sensor setting on the basis of the first frame and uses the second sensor setting to acquire S208 a second frame. Next, the method creates S210 a local tone mapping mask. Local tone mapping in the first area of a scene is different from local tone mapping in an area outside the first area, and the local tone mapping in the area outside the first area is based on the relation between the first sensor setting and the second sensor setting.
