An apparatus (100) comprising a diffuser (120), a connection tube section (132) forming a tubular fluid passage (105), a first indicating element section (108) disposed between a distal end and the connection tube section, the first indicating element section indicating a measurement related to a body fluid, and a second indicating element section (210), the second indicating element section indicating that the first indicating element section is suitable for use. The apparatus further includes a housing (110). The diffuser is at least partially disposed in the generally tubular body. A fluid chamber (1218) is cooperatively defined by the housing and the diffuser and is adapted to receive fluid (1416). The first indicating element section is disposed in a first section (156) of the housing and allows visibility of the first indicating element section from the outside of the housing. The second indicating element section disposed within the fluid chamber.
