The present invention concerns a process for the multi-stage enzymatic conversion of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), including the steps:(a) Enzyme catalysed conversion of adenosine diphosphate in the presence of sucrose and sucrose synthase to adenosine diphosphate glucose;and b) Enzyme catalysed implementation of the adenosine diphosphate glucose produced by the process step (a) in the presence of inorganic pyrophosphate and a pyrophosphylase to adenosine triphosphate and glucose-1-phosphate.The invention also concerns the use of the process for the production of sugar phosphates, nucleotide sugars, glycans, glycoproteins, glycolipids or glycosaminoglycans.
