The invention relates to a filter cartridge (12) and to an oil filter (10) having a filter cartridge (12) which is arranged in an oil filter housing (14) of the oil filter (10). A piston (36) of the filter cartridge (12) comprises a duct (20) for filtered oil and a filter material (12) arranged between two end plates (30, 40) of the piston (36). The piston (36) is displaceable in the closed oil filter housing (14), in an axial direction (38) of the filter cartridge (12), in order to prevent ingress of filtered oil, via through-openings (32) formed in an outlet port (28) of the piston (36), into a duct (34) of the oil filter housing (14) when the piston (36) is in a closure position, and to permit this in an open position. The filter cartridge (12) has a closure element (54) for closing an outlet duct (56), said closure element (54) being held on at least one brace (64) of the filter cartridge (12), wherein the free end of the at least one brace (64) can be supported in the closed oil filter housing (14). The piston (36) is displaceable relative to the at least one brace (64).
