The present disclosure relates to a device for compensating channel transfer function. The device may be, for example, for a transmitter device of a Discrete Variable Quantum Key Distribution (DV-QKD) system. The device determines a channel transfer function of a communication channel between the transmitter device and a receiver device of the DV- QKD system. Moreover, the device determines a target pulse to be received by the receiver device. Furthermore, the device generates a pulse based on the target pulse and an inverse of the channel transfer function, and it further provides the pulse to the transmitter device, for transmission of the pulse to the receiver device over the communication channel.
