The present invention provides a genetically modified non-human animal expressing a chimeric human/non-human MHC I polypeptide and/or a human or humanized β2 microglobulin polypeptide, as well as embryos, cells and tissues comprising the same do. Also provided are constructs for producing the genetically modified animal and methods of producing the same. Methods are provided for studying various aspects of the human immune system using the genetically modified animal.
