Sensing Fibers for Monitoring Structural Strain

Exemplary systems, devices, and methods for structural strain monitoring including sensing fibers are disclosed. An exemplary system includes a structural body and a sensing fiber extending through the structural body and exhibiting a varying electrical resistance as the sensing fiber deforms. The system further includes a processing unit that monitors the electrical resistance of the sensing fiber, determines a structural strain experienced by the structural body based on the electrical resistance, and outputs an indication of the structural strain.
