Reciprocity detection and utilization techniques for beamforming training are described. In one embodiment, for example, the apparatus is a station (STA) with logic, at least a portion of which is hardware, and the logic transmits an initiator transmission to select an initiator transmission (TX) sector. A sector sweep (TXSS) is performed, a beamforming reciprocity test is performed using the selected initiator TX sector, and a reciprocal initiator reception (RX) is performed for the initiator TX sector based on a result of the beamforming reciprocity test.
