A branch predictor predicts a first result of a first branch in a first block of instructions.The fetch logic fetches instructions for inferential execution along a first path indicated by the first result.Information representing the remainder of the first block is stored in response to the first predicted result.In response to the absence of the first branch instruction, the branch predictor is restarted based on the remainder block.In some cases, an entry corresponding to a second block along an inferential path from the first block is accessed using the address of the first block as an index to the branch prediction structure.The result of the branch instruction in the second block uses the corresponding set of instances of the branch conditional logic, and simultaneously predicted and predicted results are used in conjunction with the remainder block to restart the branch predictor in response to a prediction error.Diagram
