The invention relates to an assembly forming a riding spur, comprising a system (3) for mounting a removable spur (4). The mounting system (3) comprises an inner sleeve (20), an outer sleeve (21) and at least one ball (22) actuated by means of the sleeve (21) between a radially inner position of the balls (22), ensuring retention of the lug (4), and a radially outer position of the balls (22), allowing the release of the lug (4). The sleeve (20) forms a groove and the sleeve has a lug engaged in this groove, ensuring that the sleeve (21) is held in the position of retention of the lug (4). Figure for the abstract: Fig. 3
