The present invention relates to a method and to a system (1) operating according to said method for ventilating at least one workstation (2) which is subject to particular pollution loads. The present invention further discloses a system (1) which has relatively low energy consumption yet supplies a high degree of air quality purity, meeting the strict requirements of the TRBA regulation, wherein the air flow (5', 5") has a characteristic profile, the air flow of which being stronger at the edges than in the interior of the air flow. The supply air is not taken from the exterior space, but rather from the same space (3) in which the at least one workstation (2) is located. Furthermore, the individual ventilation elements (4) can be individually controlled and networked for operation, insofar as this appears necessary from the given exterior conditions. So-called HEPA filters and UV radiation advantageously interact in a special ventilation element (4) which, inter alia, significantly facilitates replacement of the HEPA filter.
