The invention relates to a dentistry handpiece comprising an elongate gripping sleeve (10) and a piezoelectric drive unit (50) mounted in the gripping sleeve for generating vibrations to be transferred to a dentistry tool. An interior (80) encapsulated in a fluid-tight manner is formed between the piezoelectric drive unit (50) and a housing (51). By means of the interior (80), a region can be formed, which, in particular when the handpiece is being treated with hot water vapour, is protected from the latter. Furthermore, at least one electrical conductor (30) is guided from a rear end of the drive unit (50) to a front end of the drive unit (50), the electrical conductor (30) being guided between the outside of the housing (51) and the inside of the gripping sleeve (10).
